Biography

1964
Yuriy Krotov was born in Grivenskaya Cossack Settlement, Krasnodar Territory, situated in a close proximity to the Azov Sea.
1972
He met a local painter G.A. Polugaev, his future teacher and tutor. His got his first lessons of painting.
1976
He went to Moscow with his teacher where he entered the Moscow High School of Art under the Surikov Art Institute.
1976-1983
Years of study in the Moscow High School of Art
1983-1985
He served in the Soviet Army.
1985-1992
Years of study in the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov.
1992
He visited Paris and for the first time took part in auction sales of Russian paintings in Drouot Auction House.

During the match for the World Chess Champion Crown held in Moscow in Tretyakov Gallery he painted the following pictures:1. ‘B. Gelfand and V. Anand’ (given to the World Champion V. Anand by the match organizers).2. ‘A Concert of D. Matsuev at the Opening of the Match in the Tretyakov Gallery’ (given to the Tretyakov Gallery by the match organizers).
